We published a new article on the transcriptome of the red coral Corallium rubrum:
Pratlong M., Haguenauer A., Chabrol O., Klopp C., Pontarotti P., Aurelle D. (2015) The red coral (Corallium rubrum) transcriptome: a new resource for population genetics and local adaptation studies. Molecular Ecology Resources.
Apart from describing the transcriptome (i.e. all the expressed genes) of this precious coral (C. rubrum is used in jewellry), this article shows different expression between two depths of some genes linked to stress . This is observed despite the fact that the individuals spent several months at the same temperature. Some mechanisms of adaptation might persist along months. The underlying mechanisms remain to be studied but this opens the way to detailed study of adaptation to temperature in this species.
